Helping developers and homeowners be confident your civil engineering job will get done well and in a timely fashion - no matter what obstacles are in your way!

redondo beach, ca

I use my knowledge, expertise, and years of experience in drainage and grading plans, stormwater compliance (LID or WQMP), FEMA flood zones, and Stormwater inspections to ensure your project will be approved quickly and follow all compliance codes.

My team and I do the hard, detailed work (and follow-up) so that you don’t have to!

As a registered civil engineer, I specialize in drainage and grading, but do most other civil plans, as well as project management and expediting utility service. I also do (and love!) stormwater compliance inspections and reports; SWPPPs, LID & WQMP reports, and all related inspections.

On every property I work with, I do my due diligence, quickly and efficiently, to ensure we don’t have any surprises pop up, and I use my contacts from a variety of agencies to assist me in making sure things are done right the first time.

Lots of times, homeowners or developers don’t even know they need my help until after they get requirements from their permitting agency. This can include comments like: "stamped by a civil engineer", “grading plan required”, “drainage plan required”,” low impact development required”, “SWPPP required”, “stormwater inspections required”, “public improvement plan required”, etc. You can save yourself time AND money by hiring me from the start, but if not - no worries! - I know where to step in to ensure your project gets approved, stays on track, and gets completed the right way!

I solve all civil engineering problems.

I always answer my phone and email - even if I’m busy, you will hear back from me by the end of the day. Additionally, if I make a commitment for a deadline, my team and I will meet it. I don’t commit to deadlines I cannot meet. My determination and friendly attitude make me easy to work with and helps me get through to government agencies, even if they don’t respond right away. The squeaky wheel gets the grease! I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure we get the responses we need - multiple calling, emailing, and occasionally going down to the agency to rattle the cages a bit.

I am not a government agency - but I know how to best work with them!

I do my best to look for cost-saving engineering and keep your budget in mind so that our solution is cost effective. I believe you can meet whatever requirements are applicable without being too cumbersome or costly.

I keep your budget in mind, always.

"Lisa Naslund designed a large drainage system for our hillside residence. She was responsive and met our short deadlines. She answered all our questions and explained our options clearly. Lisa then guided us throughout the county permitting process. We highly recommend Lisa for your project!"

If you are building a brand new house, adding on, or building an accessory dwelling unit (ADU) on your property, you may need my assistance for the property development or later in the game, based on requirements from your jurisdiction (usually your City's Building & Safety Department).

Did you get a correction notice that you need a plan or report stamped by a civil engineer? I can help you determine exactly what is needed!

I often get asked: How do I know if I need your help on my project?

for homeowners:

If you are developing multi-family apartments or condos, mixed-use development, tracts, etc., you may need my services (drainage and grading, stormwater compliance, utility or plan expediting) from the beginning or after you receive a requirement from the city, requiring the services of a civil engineer.

I can review your existing documentation and help you determine exactly what is needed.

for developers:

Since 2007, I’ve been providing professional consulting and inspection services to clients in Los Angeles, Riverside, Ventura, Orange, and San Diego County. For 13 years, I worked for Building & Safety in Los Angeles County in the Drainage & Grading Section, where I became intimately familiar with code requirements for drainage & grading, FEMA and NPDES compliance for private projects. I also worked for the City of Torrance, as well as a private local survey firm. During that time, I gained many valuable contacts within the City of LA, the County, and many other surrounding cities.

I am a registered civil engineer, a certified Qualified SWPPP Developer and Practitioner (QSD/P), and a Qualified Industrial SWPPP Practitioner (QISP).

From site inspections to innovative design solutions, my focus is always cost efficient compliance and fast approvals for my customer's projects. I’ll work with you to create a customized plan of action for your project.

"I am thrilled to write this testimonial for Lisa who helped me with not one but two projects. She was an indispensable part of our team and demonstrated her expertise in every aspect of the projects. I was particularly impressed by her attention to detail and her ability to anticipate potential issues before they could become major problems. Her knowledge and experience helped us avoid a costly grading report that we would have otherwise had to deal with.

Additionally, she went above and beyond by catching mistakes made by our drafter and offering corrections to ensure that everything was done accurately and efficiently. Her commitment to quality and her professionalism were truly outstanding. I can confidently say that Lisa is an asset to any team, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her. I look forward to working with her again in the future and hope she doesn't get too busy with other projects from her new website!"
